PROJECT 6GR’S SHELBY GT350R GOING ON A STRICT CARBON FIBER DIET AND SHEDDING 200 POUNDS!

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is already setup to punish the pavement straight from the factory. With its world’s first full production carbon fiber wheels produced by Carbon Revolution in Australia and carbon fiber rear spoiler, and rear seat delete, the Shelby GT350R was designed to be as light as possible and as nimble as possible.   While “Standing on the shoulders of giants”, and giants being Ford, the concept of weight reduction was taken further to ultimately reduce the vehicle’s curb weight by about 200 pounds.  This came through the use of many carbon fiber components used throughout the vehicle. Placing a huge emphasis on rotational mass and removing weight where it mattered the most, TBR Performance Carbon ceramic front brake rotors were utilized. This removed over 31 pounds of total weight off the front end of the vehicle. (Factory steel rotors weigh 30 lbs. vs TBR carbon rotors at 14.2 lbs!)

Continuing with the removing rotation mass, a one piece carbon fiber driveshaft was installed, replacing the factory two-piece heavier part. (Factory driveshaft weighs 30 lbs. vs 18 lbs. carbon fiber part). Once complete with the drivetrain, the focus was turned to the exterior and exterior components. The factory hood (34.4 lbs.) and truck (19 lbs.) were replaced by carbon fiber replacements that reduced the hood by 20 lbs. and truck by 8 lbs. Additionally the driver and passenger doors were replaced by carbon fiber version. The carbon fiber doors would mark the largest reduction in weight with 60 lbs. being removed.  All the components mentioned were painted oxford white to match the rest of the vehicle while leaving the carbon fiber exposed in the blue stripes.  Finishing off the last of the weight reduction components would be the Antigravity lithium car battery which reduces 70% weight than Lead. (32 lbs. vs 9.7 lbs.)

Showcasing our latest design for 2024, the Project 6GR-10D wheels are touching grounds on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 305 front and 315 out back. The Project 6GR-10D wheels are designed for maximum concavity and manufactured from forged T6061 Aerospace grade aluminum.  Wheels are crafted to 20×11 front / 20×11.5 rear and finished in satin magnesium / polished finish.  Vehicle get’s its stance from the Eibach lowering springs and race spec alignment setup primarily for track driving.
