Product Details
The strength of a lug nut starts with what it’s made from, and 10B21 is the grade the fastener industry leans on for exactly this job. It’s a low-carbon boron steel, and that trace of boron is doing real work. Boron raises the steel’s hardenability, so after heat treatment the nut develops a hard, wear-resistant surface while keeping a tough, ductile core that resists cracking under repeated torque cycles.
Cold forging the nut instead of machining it from bar stock aligns the grain flow with the shape of the part. That grain structure is what gives a forged fastener its fatigue resistance, the property that keeps a nut holding torque through heat cycles, potholes, and track sessions. We chose 10B21 because it hits the balance we want: the ductility to form a precise seat and thread without micro-cracks, and the through-hardening to hold that shape under load.
Key Features:
- Forged Steel
- Corrosion-Tested Finish
- Fits Aftermarket Wheels
Black Electropaint
Black electropaint (electrophoretic coating, or e-coat) is applied by submerging each nut in a water-based bath and running an electrical current through it, so the paint migrates and deposits evenly across every surface at once, including inside the threads and down in the seat where a spray gun can’t reach . The part is then oven-cured, which crosslinks the coating into a hard, continuous film .
That uniform coverage is the whole point. Because the coating reaches recesses and edges that spray painting leaves thin, e-coated fasteners clear 1,000+ hours of salt-spray testing where spray-painted parts start showing rust in a few hundred. The film is thin, roughly 10–30 microns, so it protects without adding enough thickness to affect the seat fit. What you get is a deep, even satin-black that stays put and resists the chipping that plagues painted hardware.
Black Cold-Forged 10B21 Steel 14×1.5 Lug Nuts
Every wheel we build gets torqued down by hardware we’d trust on our own cars, and these black 14×1.5 lug nuts are the ones we reach for. Each nut is cold-forged from 10B21 boron steel, cut with a true M14x1.5 thread and a 60° conical seat, then finished in a black electropaint coating that holds its color long after cheaper anodized nuts have faded. Sold as a complete set, they mount clean against forged and flow formed wheels and carry the same fitment standard we hold our wheels to.

Usually, yes. OEM nuts are cut for your factory wheel's seat design, which often differs from an aftermarket wheel. Match the seat (60° conical here) and thread pitch (M14x1.5) to your wheels.
M14x1.5 thread, 19mm hex, 24mm flange, 50mm overall length, closed-end acorn. Full dimensions are in the spec table above.
For street and track use, forged steel holds torque and resists rounding far better than lightweight aluminum, which is why we spec 10B21 steel. Aluminum trims a little weight at the cost of strength.
Choose chrome for polished, machined, or bright wheel faces where you want the hardware to shine with the wheel. Choose black electropaint for matte, gloss black, or bronze wheels where you want the nuts to recede.
Our coatings are oven-cured and salt-spray tested, so it resists corrosion and chipping better than sprayed or anodized finishes.
