Toyo Proxes R888-R Competition R-compound Racing tires

As impressive the Toyo Proxes R888 tires are, Toyo has managed to take it even to the next level with their all new R888-R version. With a new tread design and improved contact patch, the Toyo Proxes R888-R are able to deliver improved handling and faster lap times on the track. The Proxes R888-R has also been developed to reach optimal operating temperature much faster than before.

It was only suitable to install the very first set we received on fellow enthusiast and great friend SCRuby’s supercharged beast. With well over 700 horsepower, this upgrade was much needed to ensure proper traction and handling capabilities. Measuring 295/30/19 front and 305/30/19 in the rear, this set will make sure all horses are touching ground.

I can’t thank Need4Speed Motorsports enough for their service and dedication to world class customer service. That said I was able to try out the New R888R’s for the first time on a very spirited drive on Mulholland Hwy. I have driven Mulholland more times then I care to admit in my Mustang and all I can say is I will never run anything other than these R888R’s. They gave me the best traction I’ve ever experienced both in going into a hairpin turn and excellerating out of the turns with the full force of the 686 Rwhp my car is putting down to the wheels. Not once did I experience any sliding or chirping of the tires during a downshift. With every turn my confidence grew in the ability of these tires to handle what I asked of them. On another note I daily drive my car and the R888R’s are very smooth and their noise level is less then the previous R888’s. I only notice a beautiful low level hum when I reach 80+ mph. I highly recommend these for anyone looking for the ultimate traction for their car.

Hey Dennis, is this your ride? If so, I’m curious whether you had to powder-coat your calipers and apply a new decal?

Hi Marc, yes I had them powder coated and a new Brembo sticker was applied. I had Hillbank Motorsports in Irvine do them for me.

I have a 2012 GT convertible in Kona Blue Metallic, and you’ve certainly inspired me to follow your lead on brake caliper and rotor aesthetics. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you source your Brembos and rotors? I suppose it won’t be apples-to-apples, since your equipment was specifically made for the S550?

The Brembos were stock since it was the Performance Package. The Rotors are StopTech. Feel free to reach out to Need4Speed Motorsports as they work with all kinds of accessories and I’m sure they can help locate the right parts for you.

Thanks Dennis! Out of further curiosity, how do you like the ride quality on 305/30 rears considering the short sidewalls? Do you feel every pebble with city driving? If this all goes as planned, I’ll be moving from 245/45/19 stock Pirellis (bouncy, bouncy) to 275/35 front / 305/30 rear Michelin PS4S.

This is a 2016 GT that I’ve heavily modified with a Whipple Supercharger and it’s putting down 701 RWHP. With these tires I’m able to hook from stand still to WOT through all gears. Amazing traction!!!

I have a new 17 ruby red car being delivered to Roush on Monday. My question is how much is SC_Ruby lowered? I also have a set of 19″ 6-GR Satin Graphite wheels with 275-40 and 305-35 Nitto 555-G2’s due next week and was worrying that they will look too small, like the 18″ wheels that come stock. If I can duplicate the look and stance of your car, I will die a happy man.

Hi Thomas, congratulations on your new car! I’m lowered approx 2″ on KW V3 coilovers. Currently I’m on 305/30/19 rears with no rubbing and 295/35/19 on the fronts with no rubbing. As soon as Toyo releases this summer their 325/30/19 I’ll be upgrading to those on the rear. I’ve run the 325/30/19 in MPSS on the rear in the past with no rubbing.
